Classroom Ideas

This clip can be used to explore the terms 'forte' and 'piano'. You could invite the children to play the game presented in the clip. Stop the clip when a question about the dynamics of a song has been asked and continue the clip after the answers of the children. Perhaps hand out cards with a very lively dragon painted on one of them ('forte') and a relaxed dragon on the other one ('piano') and play another song to the children, perhaps also by Debussy. Ask the children to hold up the 'forte' or 'piano' card when they hear the equivalent change in dynamics. You could hand out percussion instruments and ask the children to play them 'forte' or 'piano' following your prompts.
