Members of the band Weapons of Sound, demonstrate how they use junk items as percussion instruments to create their music. They explain the various layers of sound that the band uses to build up a piece of music. Beginning with a steady pulse, they demonstrate how they add a range of ostinato rhythms to create their music. Finally, the musicians explain how they use a verse and chorus structure to build up a piece of music.

The whole class can collect some 'junk' to create a band. Set a pulse for the piece, and begin adding layers of different ostinati (textures). Create a verse and a different chorus section. Students can discuss the overall structure and performance details.
