Presenter Helen Czerski goes to Barringer Crater to explain how Earth's tilt may have been caused by meteorite impacts. This also helps to explain how the moon was formed and how earth has a relatively stable climate system. By taking to the air in a paraglider Helen then shows that rising air caused by heat from the sun is at the heart of earth’s weather systems.

Useful for an older year group to help explain the reasons for the earth’s tilt. The second half is useful for all year groups to study thermals. The first four minutes may be used in a different topic than the final three minutes. Teachers may consider using the two sections in isolation of one another.
