A patient with a knee injury says she feels weightless in a brine pool. A physiotherapist says the patient is not actually weightless, but the salt in the water provides additional buoyancy to support the patient's weight on her injured knee.

This idea could be tested experimentally within the class by using tap water and a salt water solution. A simple compare and contrast experiment could be carried out. A variety of materials could be placed into the water to see if the salt solution rather than the tap water allows them to float.
