A man explains how he was unfaithful to his wife after falling in love with another woman. Brought up as a Roman Catholic, he is now agnostic and still values the importance of marriage as an institution. However, if love dies, should people have to stay together?
Ask pupils to consider the emotions involved in this situation – on both sides. Look at the teachings of the churches on marriage. Weigh the arguments in favour of lifelong union against the arguments for separation in an unhappy marriage. Write a letter from a sympathetic Christian minister advising this couple on what they should do and why.
