Ask pupils to consider the emotions involved in this situation – on both sides. Look at the teachings of the churches on marriage. Weigh the arguments in favour of lifelong union against the arguments for separation in an unhappy marriage. Write a letter from a sympathetic Christian minister advising this couple on what they should do and why.
