A consolidation activity, 'Guess my rule', could be to make a function machine by decorating a cardboard box with some pretend buttons. You could show the children the input numbers and output numbers and they have to guess the function, eg add 3 or subtract 7. Another fun activity is to stand in a circle and pass a ball around with a function labelled on it, eg minus 6. Alternatively, the children sitting in a circle could whisper the function and call out each number in the sequence until the pupil sitting in the middle guesses the function. When they do so, the person just about to call out the next number must swap and sit in the middle.
