Leith Crest

Welcome to the BBC Edinburgh, Fife and East Scotland page for Leith. Here you’ll find information specific to the burgh. The content on this page can be added to by you.

Things to do

From May through to June, it’s festival season in Leith. This community event offers many opportunities to get involved in arts performances and concerts.

The Leith Festival culminates with the Walk the Walk parade, on Gala day. Join in this colourful celebration as it winds its way from Pilrig Street to Leith Links.

To brush up on your local history and get a fresh insight into Leith, check out Leith Walks. This excellent guided tour sets off from The Ship on the Shore.

Do you have a fresh idea for something to do? Let us know and we'll update the page accordingly.

Get away from it all

Patricia McKeown e-mailed us to recommend a visit to Junction Road. Here you can enjoy a vibrant plethora of shops and celebrate Leith's cultural diversity.

If you are in an artistic frame of mind, drop by the Leith Gallery, at the shore, where you can view a variety of paintings by new and established artists.

Are you feeling stressed? To unwind and relax, take a stroll along the Shore. Here you can sit back and take in the soothing sounds of the Water of Leith.

Leith Links

Leith Links

Did you know that some believe Leith Links, and not St Andrews, is the real birthplace of golf. Historical controversy aside, it’s a great area of open parkland.

The HMS Britannia has made its home in Leith. The former royal yacht, which has been preserved in its full diplomatic grandeur, makes for a great local day out.

Staying on a nautical theme, Trinity House Maritime Museum is great place to learn more about the history of Leith port and the community surrounding it.

The Ocean Terminal shopping and entertainment complex with its cinema, high street stores, chic restaurants and bars is a great place to spend an evening.

If you prefer a more traditional setting, the Shore is also great for a night out. Here you'll find stylish bars and restaurants. The seafood is excellent.

Have we missed the best thing about Leith? Do you know a great place or upcoming event?
