I was 19 and had just received my welding certificate after condensing the 4-year course into 2 and walked straight into a job at Rugeley power station.

After the boss said ‘yes’ I walked into the secretaries office sunk to my knees started  playing air guitar and singing Wham’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go”  -He’s put the boom boom into my heart’  and yes the boss heard every word.

I also worked on Saturdays as a car valet and glammed it up by saying I was a VPT  - ‘Vehicle Preparation Technician’. The boss let me transport a Capri 2.8 injection with an overhead cam to the showroom - maybe I was going too fast but the car hit the curb did a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang flying impression and landed on its roof. The boss actually said the words ‘Your fired’ - and he was called Alan!

In my acting career - I’ve been lucky enough to have played the lead in West End musicals such as Miss Saigon, Chicago, Simply Heavenly, Rent, and recently understudied the lead in Trevor Nunn’s musical opera Porgy and Bess.

I’ve been in 5 films including ‘Is Harry on the Boat?’ and Submerged with Sam Neill and been in a number of TV shows like The Bill , ITV dramas, Casualty, Doctors and East Enders.

In my spare time I perform  at a number of corporate events around the country and as well as being involved with Fairtrade. 

This job came about whilst I was working at Radio Derby and was asked to do the weather at the Broadcast Centre in Nottingham and after a lot of training and great support from my colleagues here I am!
