as the show scooped a hat-trick of awards at Birmingham's Black International Film Festival & Music, Video & Screen Awards.

Tiana Benjamen
won the award for Best UK Actress for her role as feisty
Chelsea Fox
. She told us “I’m really grateful to get this recognition and thank you to all those who have voted, its much appreciated.” Tiana was up against some very tough competition that included Freema Agyeman from
Doctor Who
and spin-off series
Torchwood
, Rhea Bailey who has appeared in
Waterloo Road
and Lorraine Burroughs who played Sarah Yates in
Spooks: Code 9.
The Lifetime Achievement Award goes to…
Rudolph Walker
picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award (Ebony Award) not only for his portrayal as fun-loving
Patrick Trueman,
but also for a career that has spanned four decades, including
sitcoms Love Thy Neighbour, The Thin Blue Line and Mr Bean, movie roles in Ali G Indahouse and Let Him have It, as well as a stage production of Shakespeare’s Othello.
And if that wasn’t enough…
To round off an impressive night,
EastEnders
also won Best UK Drama with a Black or Ethnic Cast.
