Grant grills Phil about paying Juley to sleep with Ruby. When Phil denies it, Grant assumes Johnny's been stirring and throttles him. Phil admits that he's guilty as he needs Johnny alive to confess to Dennis' death.

Phil's evasive when Grant wonders how he could sink so low. Phil stresses that he's desperate to nail Johnny. He threatens to shoot Grant if he stands in his way. Phil dashes off to find Johnny, pursued by Grant.

Johnny finds Danny and they search for Ruby. As they head outside, Phil fires a gun into the air. Ruby appears at a window and Johnny warns her to get back. Phil threatens to kill Johnny and make it look like suicide.

Johnny stands up to Phil and invites him to shoot him if he's got the guts. Phil pulls the trigger, but Grant snatches the pistol from him and chucks it away. Phil's livid. He needs to settle the score.

Johnny jumps into the boys' jeep. Danny diverts Grant and Phil with taunts and receives a thrashing. Phil vows to go after Johnny as he drives away. Grant takes Johnny's car keys from Danny and passes them to Phil.

Danny's on edge after his beating. He snaps at Ruby, but she won't accept his authority. He takes her a drink laced with sleeping tablets and apologises. Danny retires to Johnny's office and toys maniacally with a pistol.

Phil and Grant pursue Johnny in his car. Johnny calls them and mocks Phil for missing his chance to kill him. Johnny threatens to cut off Peggy's fingers. Grant orders Phil to head for the Vic, but Phil refuses to lose Johnny.

Johnny leads the brothers to a deserted goods yards. He challenges Phil to fight him, tormenting him for being a bad dad. Phil drives at Johnny, but prangs the car. Johnny leaps into the jeep and makes off.

Ruby's feeling woozy after Danny's drink. She's confused to see him wearing one of her dad's suits. Danny probes her on Johnny's opinion of him, but Ruby's exhausted. He insists on putting her to bed.

Billy takes a call from Grant warning him that Peggy and Courtney might be in danger. Billy panics and asks if Johnny's on his way to the Vic. Jake overhears and assumes that Grant and Phil are at Johnny's.

Grant calls a cab and Phil snipes at him as they wait. Grant reveals that he walked out on his wife, Carla. Phil accuses Grant of being a part-time brother recently, but Grant maintains that he has his own worries.

Danny tucks up Ruby in bed and embraces her. Jake arrives and is alarmed by the scene. Danny assures him that he was just protecting the girl. Jake urges Danny to leave with him, but then Johnny arrives.

Jake challenges Johnny about what he's up to. Johnny replies that he's taken Danny in as Jake disowned him. Jake argues that Danny's unwell and Johnny's exploiting him. Danny refuses to leave, his home's with Johnny now.

Phil annoys Grant with his carping. He bungs Phil a tenner and suggests that he drinks himself to death. He adds that he'll be doing Ben a favour. Phil sees red and tries to run down Grant. The car hurtles into a pile of skips.

To Grant's horror, a skip topples onto Phil's car. Amazingly, Phil's unscathed. As they walk off, another skip crushes the car. Grant admits provoking Phil for a reaction. He assures Phil that he'll resolve things with Ben.

Danny pulls up, brandishing a baseball bat. He announces that Johnny wants to see them. Grant shrugs off his comment until Johnny appears behind them with a shotgun.
