Phil wants a confession

Tue 28 Mar 2006

Phil breaks into Johnny's house and demands justice. Ruby's disgusted with her dad for keeping secrets from her.

Grant and Phil

Phil looks for a way into Johnny's house. Grant urges him to behave himself. Phil reminds him that Johnny's threatened both of them, and their mum. He sneers at the new Grant, who's all talk and no action.

Ruby hears a noise and alerts Johnny. He's annoyed that she nearly caught him drinking. He's also tearful, as it's two years to the day since his wife and daughter died in a fire.

Phil and Grant

Grant asks Phil why he's so bothered about Johnny. Phil explains that he promised Sharon that he'd avenge Dennis's death. He explains how Johnny ordered the murder after Dennis beat him up.

Phil and Grant

Phil's disappointed that Grant's not more sympathetic. Grant persuades Phil to get back in the car. Instead of driving away, Phil reverses through the gate. Phil breaks into the house alone.

Johnny

Johnny heads to his office where he spots Phil on his CCTV. He downs vodka, and heads off to confront his intruder. He orders Ruby to stay locked in his office.

Johnny

Johnny chases after Phil and knocks him to the ground. He's distracted as Danny enters the room, allowing Phil to fight back. Johnny orders Danny to get a knife. He won't let Phil escape.

Grant appears in time to prevent Danny and Johnny from finishing off his brother. He beats up Danny. Phil's pleased to see his brother back in action. They have no time to wonder who Danny is, as Johnny scarpers.

Ruby and Johnny

Johnny runs to his office and locks the door. He sees that Ruby's in a furious mood. She's found his cupboard full of booze. Ruby feels betrayed. She thought they had no secrets anymore.

Johnny

Johnny claims that the booze belongs to Danny. Ruby doesn't believe him. He points out that he has two angry intruders roaming about his house, but Ruby's not interested.

Ruby

Ruby smashes Johnny's bottles one by one. He pretends that he's not bothered, but grabs the last one. He admits that he drinks, and promises to get help. Ruby doesn't believe him, and leaves him to the Mitchells.

Johnny and Phil

Phil throws a pen and paper on Johnny's desk. He wants a full confession that he had Dennis killed. Johnny regains his calm and offers Phil a drink.

Johnny and Phil

Phil realises that Johnny's a fellow alcoholic. Johnny reveals that he stopped for ten years, but started drinking again recently. Phil reckons it's because Johnny feels guilty.

Phil

Phil plays the CCTV tape of Dennis battering Johnny and throwing him a mobile phone. Johnny claims that he used it to call an ambulance. Phil reveals that he stopped by and saw Johnny lying in a pool of blood.

Phil and Johnny

Johnny knows that Phil encouraged Dennis to attack him. He retorts that it's Phil who should feel guilty. He started the process that ended in Sharon's grief. Phil's outraged by Johnny's lack of remorse.

Grant and Ruby

Grant and Ruby have tea and scones, and discuss their families. Ruby mentions Juley and realises that Grant has no idea what Phil did to her. Grant looks shocked as she starts to explain.

Phil

Johnny holds his hand up and admits to ordering Dennis's death. He volunteers to call Sharon if it'll help her feel better. His sneering tone infuriates Phil. He launches himself at Johnny and starts to choke him.
