Nana's last day

Alfie struggles to give Nana the Christmas she craves, but the day ends in heartache. Pauline issues an ultimatum.

Nana

Nana hopes that Spencer and Jake will come home for the holidays. She reminds Alfie that it's their last one together. She declares that she'd like a dancing snowman for Christmas.

Martin, Sonia and Pauline

There's a distinct lack of Christmas cheer at the Fowlers' as Sonia and Martin fight. Pauline brings out the decorations, but Sonia retorts that decorations are for kids.

Alfie and Kat

Kat's worried about Alfie. He's so obsessed with giving Nana a good last Christmas that he's barely got time to see her. Kat urges him to make the most of the time they've got left.

Joe and Pauline

Pauline reveals Margaret's offer to Joe. She misses having children around and yearns for her granddaughter. Joe wonders if Pauline has the strength to say goodbye to her again.

Jake and Alfie

Alfie's delighted to find Jake at home. Jake grumbles that he's only back to pack his things. Alfie begs him to stay, but can't betray Nana's secret. He's frustrated by Jake's selfishness.

Kat and Nana

Nana gives Kat an envelope, asking her not to open it until she's died. It's her final wish and it's something that Alfie can't do. Kat smiles, but once Nana's out of sight, she breaks down.

Jake

Jake reckons that Alfie's had an easy life compared to his. Alfie counters that Jake's incapable of love and accuses him of having no feelings. A fight starts, but is broken up by Nana.

Jake, Nana and Alfie

Nana dispatches the boys to get a Christmas tree. Jake begins to cheer up, until Dot calls him over to gossip about Chrissie. Jake's upset by Dot's interference.

Alfie and Jake

Jake reiterates his plan to spend Christmas away. Alfie's about to break his silence, but Jake interrupts with the news that he and Chrissie are finished. Alfie accepts his reason for leaving.

Jake and Alfie

Alfie and Jake honour a Moon Christmas tradition - nicking Nana's booze. Jake notices how tired Alfie looks. Alfie admits that he's doing all he can to make Christmas perfect.

Alfie and Nana

Nana's delighted by the tree. Alfie hands her the angel to put on top as usual. She responds that it's his turn to take over. Alfie chokes back tears as he puts the finishing touch to the tree.

Jake, Nana and Alfie

Jake buys Nana her dancing snowman. She's thrilled and they spend a happy evening playing charades and having fun. Kat hears the noises within the Moons' house and smiles.

Pauline and Margaret

Pauline confesses to Margaret that she can't face the pain of parting from Rebecca again. She offers to care for Rebecca on condition that they receive regular access to her. Margaret promises to think it over.

Alfie and Nana

Nana's disappointed that Jake's leaving. He pledges to come back for Christmas. She promises him that he'll always have a home there. She cries as she says goodbye.

Nana and Alfie

Alfie comforts Nana. He admits that he's scared. She promises that she'll always be there for him and asks him to turn on the snowman again. When he turns around, she's passed away.

Alfie and Nana

Alfie lays Nana's handbag beside her. He breaks down in tears and promises her the best Christmas ever. He begs her to wake up and give him some more time, but she doesn't stir.
