Sonia's shocked by Sarah's accusations. Martin races home from the police station.

Sonia and Sarah

Sarah claims that she was mugged on her way home from work. Sonia's full of concern and treats her injuries. She reckons that the person who did it should be locked up.

Martin

Martin rages in his cell, certain that Sarah's causing more trouble. Sarah claims that Martin's out drinking with pals in the Vic. Sonia's disappointed in him. She thought that he would have called to tell her.

Sarah locks the front and back doors while Sonia makes tea. She chats about Martin and all the troubles that he's faced. Sonia's surprised that she knows so many details about his life.

Sarah

Sarah reckons that Martin married Sonia out of guilt after getting her pregnant and killing her boyfriend. Sonia's outraged. Sarah explains that Sonia gave him back his self-respect.

Martin

Martin's relieved when he's finally released on bail. He struggles to find a taxi to take him back to the Square. Sarah sees how upset Sonia is, and apologises for speaking out of turn.

Sonia describes her grief following Jamie's death. Sarah suggests that one day Sonia and Martin will realise that their marriage is based on pity. Sonia's heard enough and asks Sarah to leave.

Sonia's furious. She doesn't understand why Sarah's trying to turn her against Martin. Sarah drops her bombshell - Martin was unfaithful and he doesn't love her.

Sarah describes the circumstances of her night with Martin. She urges Sonia to open her eyes and admit that Martin's not right for her. Sonia doesn't believe her. She calls Sarah a sad nutter who needs help.

Martin breaks down the back door and bursts in. He pulls Sonia away from Sarah and urges her to leave the house. Sonia asks him straight out if he slept with Sarah. Martin's speechless.

Sonia can't look at Martin as he begs her to understand what's been going on. In hospital, Pauline's concerned that she can't get hold of Martin. She phones Jim and asks him to check that everything's all right at home.

Sonia turns on Sarah after she claims that it was love at first sight when her and Martin's eyes met. Sarah claims that there's nothing Sonia can offer him anymore, so she may as well admit defeat.

Sarah mentions that Martin wasn't wearing a wedding ring when they met. Martin tries to explain, but Sonia's sick of his excuses. She's devastated that he couldn't trust her with the truth.

Sarah claims that she sets Martin's pulse racing in a way that Sonia never will. Her injuries prove that he feels passionate about her. Sonia's horrified to think that Martin hurt her. He accuses Sarah of lying.

Sonia asks Martin to choose. He swears that there's no one but her. He begs her not to listen to a word that Sarah says. Under pressure, Sarah reveals that Martin passed out on her bed and nothing happened.

Sarah lunges at Martin and stabs him with a pen knife. He slumps onto the sofa with the blade in his stomach. Sonia and Sarah scuffle, until Sonia bashes her on the head with Pauline's fruit bowl.

Sonia and Martin

Sonia tends to Martin's wounds. Jim arrives to find Sarah unconscious and Martin bleeding. He's gobsmacked as Sonia shouts at him to call an ambulance. Sonia promises Martin that he'll be alright.
