As part of the plan to involve fresh, new talent in EastEnders: E20 we teamed up with BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra and BBC Asian Network to offer remixers, DJs and music fans a unique opportunity to become part of EastEnders history - by remixing the iconic theme tune for the E20 title sequence.
We were looking for a fresh take on the classic EastEnders theme tune - one that would become the fanfare for a show which celebrates and embraces East London youth culture. The remixed theme tune needed to match the show's ambition: young, urban and rebellious, but have the 'DNA' of the EastEnders theme tune at its heart.
And the winner is...
We had an amazing response with over 250 entries. From that, we picked the remix sent in by 21 year-old Carl Darling, who recently completed a degree in Music Production.
As part of the competition's prize Carl was invited to spend the day at BBC Elstree, working with the music production team to fine-tune his winning remix. Full story.
