About Wendy Richard
Wendy is a dog-lover, and often looked after Betty. She is the patron of the Cairn Terrier Relief Association(NB: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites).
Wendy was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the Millennium Honours List.
During the 60s she was number one in the pop charts on Mike Sarne's Come Outside.
Wendy had a dog called Shirley Brahms II, named after her role in Are You Being Served

Apart from playing Pauline Fowler, Wendy Richard is best known for playing Miss Brahms in the BBC sitcom Are You Being Served in the 1970s. She returned to the part for the short lived 1990s sequel Grace and Favour.
Wendy guest-starred in a 1960s edition of The Likely Lads, which has recently been returned to the BBC archives as part of the Treasure Hunt project. She also appeared in Dad's Army.
Her film credits include Bless This House,Help, On The Buses, Carry On Girls, Carry On Matronand the film version of Are You Being Served.
She played Pauline Fowler at several different ages in the 1993 Children In Need Doctor Who special.
