"Eve's delightfully eccentric and maddeningly obsessed with her work."

"Deus Ex Machina was excellent - one of the best episodes I've seen. Political intrigue, espionage, revenge... long may this show continue.
I was disappointed with the 2005 series. The cast changes and Boyd's frequent assaulting of suspects left a bad taste in the mouth. But this year the series is redeeming itself.
Boyd is more reserved, but it's delightful to see him up to his old antics. The infrequency of his outbursts makes them more effective than him always being on the rampage.
Tara FitzGerald's character is superb. She's delightfully eccentric, maddeningly obsessed with her work so fits right in."
James Dennis, Nottingham

"This was thought-provoking stuff. I was deeply impressed by Lisa Jackson's portrayal of Dr Elaine Wilson. I felt her performance was beautiful and sensitive, allowing the essence of this character to shine from the screen. I hope we see more of her in the future."
Ian Wilson, Aberdeen

"I was very disappointed with this episode. The non-regular characters were flat and uninteresting, and I found it hard to care about anything that was going on. The plot was trying too hard, and I was disappointed that Stella, who has such potential, was pushed into the background.
So far this series, the only redeeming features are Eve's body farm and Mel's mystery."
Amy, Leeds

"Convoluted plot as ever. But that's why I watch."

"Convoluted plot as ever. But that's why I watch. The interactions between the Cold Case crew members are as enjoyable as ever, with Eve being a worthy addition. There was a brilliant and discomforting performance by Alex Jennings, as the rather cold Professor Andrews, another case of the guest star stealing scenes."
Penny, Berkshire

"Focusing on Boyd, Grace and Eve, I think it left Spencer and Stella, very two dimensional.
There were too many loose ends and the first part gave the viewer no ideas at all. I expect to be confused but this was beyond confusion, almost bordering on boredom.
We saw several men string up a woman (with a struggle), then we were expected to believe that a single person could string up someone on their own. I thought the only character to shine was (as always) Grace.
The top and bottom of this episode is that it was based on three ideas of interrogation and that seemed to be the whole plot. I have never been disappointed with this excellent programme before but this particular episode was rubbish."
Ian Gould, Derbyshire

"One gripe amongst a wealth of brilliance - Dr Eve, smoking in the lab of all places? What next - getting drunk while conducting an autopsy? (Actually that would be quite funny.)"
