Holly Aird as Frankie Wharton
 Following the death of DS Mel Silver (Claire Goose), Frankie has quit the Cold Case Unit to return to her research.
Off-screen, actress Holly Aird gave birth to her second child, daughter Nelly, in December 2004.
Her other TV credits included the dramas Soldier, Soldier, Have Your Cake and Eat It, and Possession, alongside Trevor Eve.

Claire Goose as Mel Silver
 DS Mel Silver died tragically, while carrying out an investigation, during the story Shadowplay at the end of Series 4.
Since leaving Waking The Dead, actress Claire Goose appeared in an Afternoon Play called The Good Citizen for BBC ONE, and alongside David Tennant in the ITV1 Drama Secret Smile.
Before landing the role of Mel Silver, Claire was best known for playing nurse Tina Seabrook in medical drama Casualty.
