In London, Lore Dutana defends her daughter from a mugger on a railway platform. The Cold Case team discover that Lore's DNA matches that found on a crime scene in the 1990's, in which a body was found in a container having been tortured and then burnt. To the consternation of her husband, Lore decides to go back to her original home country, France, with their two daughters, as a result of the incident. But what is she running from? Boyd and the team soon identify Lore and all points of exit from the UK are sealed.
The Cold Case squad discover that what at first looks like evidence of a snuff movie, and a case about prostitution and sexual violence, turns out to be the unearthing of a terrorist cell comprising three women: Una Doyle, Lore and Fatima.
Eve tells Boyd that a young man has been transferred to the homeless unit, and that there was a flag on his DNA, which has led them to contact the Cold Case unit, specifically Boyd. Boyd asks Eve to keep this news quiet. The DNA is a match for his long-missing son.
Boyd goes to the homeless unit to see his son but when he sees him through the door, his nerve fails and he can't face speaking to him.
