Your reviews and comments for Spooks 4 Episode 10:
"What a way to end the best ever series of Spooks. This episode continued the very high standard that the rest of the series has set, with good acting, deep gripping plots, and excellent dialogue. Spooks is by far the best drama on TV and may even be the best ever. It's a shame it doesn't win more awards. There are lots of American dramas on British TV that have good reviews, but Spooks outclasses all of them. Congratulations, BBC, on producing such high class British drama that we can be extremely proud of. I can't wait until the next series."
Thomas, Stratford-upon-Avon
"I don't think I have ever gasped so loud at the end of a show, and to leave us hanging like that til next year! Superb. I don't think I can wait that long to find out what's happened to Adam and Harry, (please don't kill them off). If I wasnt hooked before, I am now. Well done on a fantastic episode."
Diane, Edinburgh
"That was the best episode of the lot, although I expected to hate it, given the subject matter. I love the series, but hated the ending. Must you leave me in suspense for a whole year as to the outcome? I can hardly bear the tension - what will become of the dashing and capable Adam? Harry cannot possibly be taken from us, the others would be lost without him, and he does have some unfinished business with the adorable Ruth."
Amelia, Essex
"I love Spooks, but I think it peaked with the third series. Sadly I don't think the programme has any surprises left - we all knew Fiona was out when Jo showed up. And this week's finale typified that. Twists within twists, and with another twist at the end, the whole thing got a little convoluted. In the breakneck final ten minutes, too much happened too quickly. For the first time the show's ultra-real feeling has begun to look staged. I just haven't felt much momentum to any of series 4, and I seriously doubt Spooks can survive yet another season. Was the temptation for a final cliffhanger too great?
Frankly I think this marvellous series burned twice as bright, and therefore should have been here half as long."
Gareth Rafferty, Wales
"I have one thing to say, it's the only bad point - too many people die! I'm not saying that Adam is dead yet, but getting shot in the back and having blood coming out of your mouth is pretty near to death."
Carl Hewson, Winchester
"I can't believe I have to wait a whole year to find out what happens to Adam and Harry. I was hoping the series would end with some pash between Ruth and Harry - there's definitely something going on between them. I just hope we don't lose Adam, he is the most gorgeous Spook ever, I would have loved to see him as James Bond*."
Louise Rutland, Bucks
"NO! Adam can't be dead. Blood coming out your mouth in Holby City is usually followed by death. Hoping it was just the tomato soup he had for lunch repeating on him."
Shona Buchanan, York
"Please don't kill Harry off. He's the heart of the show, the one immutable point around which the maelstrom of activity occurs. Also he has unfinished business with Ruth. Adam will survive. It's obviously just a punctured lung.
On the whole the series has been top quality throughout, it knocks Alias* into a cocked hat and, for a recurring drama, has an originality and a levity that is sorely lacking in other shows.
Well cast and well written, my only gripe about this series is: Where did Oliver Mace go? As a foil for Harry, he was much better than Juliet. Though Anna Chancellor is a welcome addition."
Suzei, Berkshire
"My jaw is still offically dropped. Surely Adam and Harry aren't both gone? It was so close to the bone this week with another superbly believable storyline. I'm not sure what I'll do with my Thursday evenings now. Who knows how the writers do it, but it just keeps on getting better."
Karen, Suffolk
"No, no, no! You mustn't write out Adam or Harry. I really hope it isn't as bad as it looks for them. I know people were horrified about losing Danny, Tom and Zoe, and yet the programme survived and went from strength to strength, but I really, truly can't imagine it without Harry, and I've got very used to Adam being on our screens. What about poor Wes?
A wonderful episode, full of suspense and excellent acting. Top marks. I did feel it was a little foolhardy letting her go so easily, but maybe that was because I knew there was still 15-20 mins of the programme to go!
Roll on the next series - it will have a lot to live up to. This series has been fantastic."
Su, Crowborough
"Tonight's episode was gripping. Who would have thought so much could happen? You think you've sussed it out with the Princess Diana plot then in the last few minutes they prove it to be a decoy. Then, again, you think you've got the plot with her going to Buckingham Palace only to find another twist with Pegasus. But the main question is - will Adam and Harry survive?"
Kirsty, Bridgwater
"Amazing, this has really brought up the standards of British drama. I loved the twist right at the end, I never wanted it to stop. Please don't let Adam die, he has been though enough, and don't let Harry die either. Harry is the only member of the original team left, so you can't kill him off. Never stop producing Spooks, ever."
Lakmini, Reading, UK
"Yet another thrilling, impossible-to-predict climax designed to keep us waiting with eager anticipation for the next series.
Frankly, however, what with all the other unexploded bombs, near-drownings and shootings of previous finales I’m not fretting myself too much about whether Adam and Harry survive. I think I must be suffering from cliffhanger fatigue."
Tim Robinson, London
"Much as I like Spooks and have followed it from the start, the storylines seem to be getting a little desperate and hackneyed. When in doubt, killing somebody off seems to be the easiest way to get our attention. A return to good tightly-scripted stories involving British home-spun terror sects and not all these stereotypical bearded and funny accented guys who have populated the last series. Let's not go the same way as Holby City and other series which start with good intentions but quickly turn into soap when plot ideas run out."
Brian, Wirral
"What an excellent series and what an ending. I can't believe we've got to wait until next year to find out what happens to Adam and Harry. It would be a shame to see either of them leave the series. I would be devasted if Harry died, his character has gradually grown in this series and I wish something would happen between him and Ruth. Being a Peter Firth fan I only wish I could be in Ruth's shoes!"
Linda Martin, Binfield, Berkshire
"Unbelieveable. Focusing on Malcolm was especially good at the end, there are so many places where you have absolutely no idea what will happen next. Poor Wes."
Robbie Bremner, London
"A triumphant close to a fantastic series. This episode was a bit slow to get going but worked itself out into a brilliant plot. The last ten minutes were probably the best I have ever seen on TV, the twists and turns were inspired. I can't wait for series 5 - but will Adam survive and is it the end of the line for Harry? Malcolm also seems to be considering giving it all up after freezing in the field."
Richard Butcher, Felixstowe
"Wow, mindblowing. The pace, the cornering, the faces, the minds. Better construction than MFI!
You find yourself asking at every turn, 'do they really do that?' and then replying 'I bet they do'. Well done BBC on probably the best series you have ever produced. That's what I love paying the licence fee for."
John Aspden, Reading
"Slightly ropey end to a fantastic series. Angela threatening them all with a button and a handbag was a bit silly. Anyway, I reckon I know what happens next...
Angela shoots off 'pretty boy' Adam Carter's eyebrows, to spoil his good looks. She also shoots Harry dead. Malcolm creates some replacement eyebrows for Adam which contain a tracking device and a miniature digital camera. However, despite this added functionality, Adam cannot come to terms with the loss of his eyebrows and leaves the service to look after Wes full time. Ruth then replaces Harry as head of counter terrorism and vows to avenge the death of her one true love."
Richard Ashworth, Leeds
"Whilst enjoying the drama of last night's Spooks, please note that Angela may have been a blue but not in the 10,000m. The women's varsity match (Oxford v Cambridge), does not include the 10,000m as a race, so she could not have won her blue which is only given for participation in this one meeting. She also could not have been an Olympic contender for the 10,000m in 1984 as the event for women was not contested until 1988. Still a great programme (even for an anorak!)"
Derek Benning, Sandbach, Cheshire
"Thanks for another season of Spooks, although I felt it was weaker than the others. Episode 10 was back to the normal quality, but some staff need changing. Harry, Ruth, Malcolm, Juliet, Zafar all show quality in acting. However, Colin needs to speak his techy stuff as though his gets it himself and Adam has moments of acting, but lacks real depth. Jo should stop smiling when being told people have died. She ought to be more serious.
We miss Zoe and Danny, and need some more depth with characters dealing with the outside world. Such as Tom trying to have a relationship. There should be another permanent CIA contact like Christine, given the closeness of the intelligence community, not the cheap American actors you occasionally show. The focus was just on the office this series and I'd like to see it back in Downing Street and people's homes. Give time in each episode to focus on the characters not just the event."
David Pilcher, UK
"I thought the Princess Diana themed episode was going to be far fetched and silly, but it was very well constructed and believeable. One of the best and potentially most controversial episodes that worked really well. I wish they wouldn't leave the series on such cliffhangers, when the wait for a new series is so long."
Elaine Howard , Leicester
"Ostensibly this episode rubbishes the idea that British secret services were actively involved in murdering Princess Diana. But paradoxically it confirms this view, because any suggestion that MI5 should have inadvertently predicted her death to perfection, but only as a worst case scenario, simply beggars belief. As far as one can see the only people in Britain who still claim that the Princess' death was accidental are either afraid of losing something important to them (their job, reputation, etc) or else are too psychologically damaged to face up to such an unpleasant reality."
Timothy Johnson, Surrey, UK
"A bit controversial, I do hope they told Wills and Harry of what was being shown. Very good acting, but the end appeared to be a bit rushed. But, as ever, it had purpose. Is Adam dead? Will Harry follow him? Will the department survive intact?"
Colin, Edinburgh
"The last episode of the series was fantastic. Who would have thought that one woman could turn into a loony over Princess Di's death? This has got to be the best cliffhanger of Spooks yet. Adam is my favourite character; he's great at his job and, absolutely gorgeous - how can I wait until next year to find out if he lives or dies? Spooks has just got better and better as the plots have got more twisted, gripping and complicated. This is one of the best, if not the best drama on TV; keep up the good work."
Danielle, Manchester
"Fantastic. I can just about cope with one cliffhanger, but this is too much to take in so suddenly. What next? Adam has almost certainly joined his wife, leaving Uncle Harry to shack up with Ruth and take care of Wes. Everybody thinks Malcolm's a hero, so he gets Adam's job in series 5. Bring back Tom Quinn."
Gwyn Owen, Bangor
"The plot for the final episode was a bit far-fetched. Surely someone with Angela's expertise, who spent seven months building a bomb, would have had better measures to prevent it being defused. I can't believe they just cut a few wires!"
Darren Thiel, Manchester
"This episode was brilliant and firmly put Spooks back in pride of place after what was, for me, a hit and miss series. Great to hear Zaf name the two MI6 men in Paris as Mace and Siviter (Hugh Laurie and Tim McInnerny from past seasons). Please let Adam and especially Harry be OK."
Mark, St Helens
"Right at the end, the person who shot Harry looked like Jo. She just looked too young to be Angela, I think."
William Schofield, London, near Thames House
"Why can't 2006 come sooner? An amazing ending to one of the greatest episodes of Spooks ever. The death of Diana being plotted showed how sometimes conspiracy theories are a bit more than just theories. The ending to the show was explosive, with Harry staring down a barrel of a gun, and Adam lying next to him, blood everywhere. What is going to happen to our beloved Spooks? Bring on next year!"
