You
can take the woman out of the city
but can you take the city
out of the woman? Abby Wallace discovers that even the rough seas
around Ronansay cannot keep her high-rise history at bay forever.
When Abby and Kenny upped sticks and turned their
backs on inner city stress, they placed their faith in the healing
and restorative powers of an island community which might just provide
the answers to the most pressing of lifes questions.
But, as this third series progresses, Abby realises
that it is her own, inner resources that she needs to call on
and that will be true wherever she finds herself, something Michelle
relates to.
"I know that since I have been working on
Two Thousand Acres of Sky I have changed a lot," Michelle reveals.
"I am probably a lot calmer because on that wonderful location
there is time to be you there is no retail therapy, no trendy
coffee bars. Its lovely to get away from this obsession with
celebrity, to walk along the beach and feel the fresh air
you can be completely lost in your thoughts. Its an inspiring
place.
"But its also because my life has changed.
My daughter Maia is now six and in her second year of school; my
priorities are different now."
The ex-EastEnder is acutely aware of the flip-side
of fame, having had her share of tabloid headlines in the past.
Now, she is determined to remain a working actress and to limit
her flashbulb-lit outings.
"I know that there are some people who seem to
spend their whole lives going from one celebrity bash to another,"
she says. "Frankly, Id now rather have a hard day at work
and then go home to my family." |
