Twiggy Lawson as Mrs Minola

Mrs Minola (Twiggy Lawson)

Stylish, young-at-heart widow Mrs Minola has always been closer to her glamorous younger daughter Bianca than to severe, serious Kate. A lady who lunches, she's highly approving of Bianca's jet-setting celebrity lifestyle, but doesn't really understand what's so important about all this dull politics stuff Kate's into.

Twiggy Lawson

London-born Twiggy (real name Leslie Hornby) is still best known as the archetypal sixties supermodel. Named "face of '66" by the Daily Express, her vital statistics at the height of her modelling career were an astounding 32-23-32 - hence the nickname Twiggy.

From modelling, she branched out to work in film and TV, with highlights including Ken Russell's 1971 film The Boy Friend*, for which she won two Golden Globe awards, a 1975 variety show named after her, and a well-received portrayal of Eliza Doolittle in a TV version of Pygmalion in 1981. In the 90s she presented ITV talk show Twiggy's People, and she's even been a guest on The Muppet Show*.

Twiggy has continued her modelling career throughout, and is currently the face of Marks and Spencers' advertising campaign. She's also recently appeared as a judge on America's Next Top Model*.

She also does work for charities including research into breast cancer, and animal welfare groups.

She married actor Leigh Lawson in 1988. She was previously married to actor Mike Whitney, until his death in 1983, and the couple had one daughter together.
