Download a scrolling screensaver of characters and settings from BBC ONE's four updatings of Shakespeare plays.

How to install your scrolling Shakespeare screensaver.

PC version

  • Download and save the file to your hard-drive by clicking here. Remember where you save it - you'll need to find it in the next step!
  • Find where you saved it on your computer, double-click the install_shakespeare.exe executable file. The screensaver will automatically install itself.
  • The screensaver's controls are accessible through the Screensaver tab of your computer's Display Control panel. Find this in the Settings | Control Panels submenu of your Start Menu, or by right-clicking on your desktop and choosing Properties from the pop-up menu.

  • Please note that although the screensaver's controls have a sound setting, the screensaver contains no sound. The PC screensaver is only available for Windows 3.1, 95, 98, ME and NT.

    Apple Macintosh Versions

  • OS 8 and 9
  • OSX

  • Start the download by clicking on the appropriate file above for your Mac's operating system - OS 8/9 or OSX. Save the file. Once saved, double click the file to decompress it - you might need to uncompress the file using software such as Stuff It Expander*.

  • To install the screensaver double click on the install file . Restart your machine and your screensaver can now be accessed through system preferences under the Apple Menu. You can quit the screensaver at any time by hitting the ESC (escape) key.
