Since making his debut in a 1972 episode of Z Cars, David's guested in many of the most popular TV dramas of the day, from Bergerac to Heartbeat to Holby City.
He played John Salway, a detective who rises through the ranks, in Our Friends In The North, which also starred the future James Bond and Doctor Who, Daniel Craig and Christopher Eccleston.
His other notable credits include The Street, Our Mutual Friend, Real Women, Fields of Gold and an episode of the Lock, Stock TV series.
On the big screen, he played Falco in Gladiator, and also had roles in the films The Last Of The Mohicans and The Dogs Of War.
