Daniel Craig in Our Friends in the North

He first won acclaim with his performance in the award-winning BBC TWO drama series Our Friends in the North.  Set in Newcastle, the series chronicled the turbulent lives of four British friends from 1964 to 1995.  Co-star Christopher Eccleston also went on to play a screen icon when he starred in Doctor Who.

Daniel performed alongside Bill Nighy in Roger Michell's 2004 thriller, Enduring Love. He also starred in Michell's 2003 film, The Mother.  Daniel’s character has an affair with a woman twice his age, played by Anne Reid, whilst also sleeping with her daughter.

From thrillers to tragic romance, Daniel played English poet Ted Hughes to Gwenyth Paltrow's Sylvia Plath in 2003's Sylvia.  He also appeared with Angelina Jolie in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

The 2002 adaptation Copenhagen saw Daniel play German physicist Werner Heisenberg. The true story followed Heisenberg's infamous 'nuclear energy' meeting with Niels Bohr (Stephen Rea) in 1941.  He went on to play a Bond-esque maverick professor with an eye for adventure in Archangel.

Daniel's other BBC credits include The Trench in 1999, and The Ice House in 1997.
He made an early TV appearance in the 1993 political satire Drop the Dead Donkey.
