Episode 7 | Wednesday 14 March 2007, 9pm, BBC TWO

Desperate to keep his boss's career on track Danny urges Labour MP Jo to seek counselling for her escalating drink problem but it soon becomes apparent that this is the least of her worries when her husband runs off with the nanny.

Scott's deceased dad was once the Labour MP for Longton South. Armed with this knowledge, Conservative candidate Ashika uses a picture of him to promote herself and boost her campaign. Scott's furious and despite his personal feelings for Ashika he retaliates by interviewing her own father, and twisting his words to make her look foolish in the local press. The sexual tension between them grows as the by election gathers pace.

Despite having ended their affair, Ashika receives a marriage proposal from James. Still sure that James isn't right for her, she turns down his offer. Choosing to part on good terms and with their guards down they embrace affectionately, completely unaware that they are being caught on camera.

Danny is offered a new research job for another MP but he turns the offer down, suggesting his colleague Kirsty instead. Unbeknown to Kirsty the job is not available to her but she will stop at nothing to climb the political ladder, even if it means sleeping her way to the top.*
