Ideally Rachael would like to have been the Prime Minister of Australia by now, but she is content with being a Broadcast Journalist on BBC TV News and making feature films in her spare time. Rachael is producing and editing the documentary.
I've been working at BBC Television News for several years, but writing scripts for much of that time. A couple of years back, it dawned on me that as a 'nobody', if I wanted to see my work produced, I had better just do it myself. My debut feature 'The Plans of Man' is the result (See links below). The film has secured distribution in North America and is in negotiations for a UK deal. I'm now writing two new scripts to shoot over the coming 2-3 years.
I met Susie when I invited some folks from BBC Drama to come to a screening of my film. We had plenty in common and Susie invited me to get involved with Small Dark Places, so I did!
What I hope to gain from this project is more experience as a Producer, and also to expand my editing profile.
The way this project came into existence was pretty amazing. Having all these talented folks involved and working together on top of their regular jobs is just fantastic. Talent is important, but even more so is dedication and persistence, getting honest evaluations of your work, and persistence. Yep, persistence really is THAT important.
