Season 1
In Season 1, Hiro found he had the ability to manipulate space and time, and teleported to New York. He came across a comic book called 9th Wonders! in which he appeared. Intrigued, he went to see Isaac Mendez, the artist, but found him dead. Hiro was arrested and discovered he had travelled not only through space, but through time as well - and was in the future. Just as he worked this out, he witnessed a cataclysmic explosion and jumped back in time to save himself. Having had a glimpse of the future, Hiro decided that he must save the world by preventing the explosion, five years later he worked out that the key to saving the world was saving the cheerleader. At the end of Season 1, with Claire safe, Hiro managed to stab Sylar. But before he collapsed, Sylar hurled Hiro at a building.
Season 2
Hiro landed in 17th-century Japan. He had the unfortunate task of turning Takezo Kensei, a drunken Englishman, into a hero worthy of the tales. Living his dream in feudal Japan, Hiro fell in love with Kensei's girl, Yaeko. This threw a spanner in the works and the two friends soon became bitter enemies. In the middle of a fearsome fight, just before the gunpowder went off, Hiro went to save Kensei, who refused his help. Hiro had to save his own life and left Kensei for dead. Hiro didn't realise that Kensei's power's could heal any injury, and Kensei spent the next four hundred years seeking his revenge. Now known as Adam Monroe, he was the man responsible for Kaito Nakamura's death. Hiro had a score to settle and imprisoned Adam in Kaito's coffin to live out his days.
Season 3
Hiro's mission was to guard a great family treasure - a formula. But when the formula was stolen by The Speedster the race was on to save the world. Teleporting to the future, Hiro saw a world in chaos from the effects the stolen formula had had and also saw his future self being killed by Ando. Hiro reluctantly turned to Adam Monroe for help, but managed to let him escape. Having been recruited by Arthur Petrelli, Hiro was sent to Africa to retrieve Usutu. While there, he went on a spirit-walk where he discovered why Arthur set up Pinehearst. On returning to the real world, Hiro found Usutu had been beheaded by Arthur. Arthur then attacked Hiro and reset his memory back to being 10 years old. Hiro and Ando teleported to Sam's Comics, where Sam and Frack helped Hiro realise that he had to take Claire back 16 years to his parents' apartment to get his memory back. Once in the Nakamuras' flat, Hiro got to spend time with his dying mother Ishi. She had healing powers, and cured his memory loss and gave him the catalyst intended for baby Claire. But Arthur cornered Hiro and Claire on the roof terrace, and took both the catalyst and Hiro's powers, leaving him dangling from a flag pole, lost in time. Hiro managed to climb back on to the rooftop and took the formula from Kaito's safe. But when his father discovered him, Hiro tore the formula in two and was saved from death by a super-charged Daphne. After being reunited with Ando and Matt, Daphne took a still powerless Hiro to Pinehearst. He stole the torn formula from Tracy's clutches and, as Volume 3 drew to a close, destroyed it once and for all. In Volume 4, deprived of his powers, Hiro established a base of operations, and injected himself and Ando with microchips, enabling them to track one another. He was then captured, but luckily escaped and was reunited with Ando. He decided to go to India, as shown in one of Matt's drawings, to try to regain his powers. When Ando persuaded the bride to stop the wedding, Hiro believed he had stolen his chance to get his powers back. However, when Ando was kidnapped, Hiro saved the day and realised that he could be a hero without his ability. Hiro arrived in Los Angeles and discovered that he'd been sent to save Matt Parkman - the baby. Matt's son, Matt, had an ability to touch things and make them work. He touched Hiro and restored his power to control time, but not his ability over space. Hiro stopped time to escape the agents sent for baby Matt Parkman, but unable to teleport, he had to push frozen-in-time Ando for 12 miles in a wheelbarrow. Hiro and Ando eventually tracked Matt down in Washington D.C. and Hiro saved him from being murdered by The Hunter. Determined to break into Building 26, Hiro finally accepted Ando as an equal, rather than a sidekick. However, it soon looked like the return of his power had come at a cost. He froze time to rescue those in Building 26, but each time he used his power he suffered ill effects, headaches, nosebleeds, until he finally passed out.
