Xander Berkeley
Xander Berkeley's appeared in more than 30 films over the past few decades. His versatility has meant that he's been in demand without becoming identified with particular characters. However he's played many cops and villains - perhaps it was this which kept us guessing about Mason's agenda right up to his tragic end in 24?

Xander made his film debut in 1981 film Mommie Dearest with Faye Dunaway. The movie was an adaptation from the book by Joan Crawford's adopted daughter.
He went on to appear in such notable films as A Few Good Men, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Air Force One, Shanghai Noon, Apollo 13, Amistad, The Grifters, The Rock, Leaving Las Vegas, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Internal Affairs, Gattaca, and Heat.
He has also had a plethora of TV parts, including appearances in The X-Files, E.R. and Miami Vice. He even made an appearance in The A-Team in 1984.

The New York native also spent a decade acting off-Broadway and in regional theatre, performing classic American works as well as those of Shakespeare.
24 wasn't the first time-related high-concept project that Xander had been involved with. In 2000 he had a lead role in Timecode, directed by Mike Figgis. The movie was shot 15 times over two weeks, each time in a continual take, and is shown with a choice of four simultaneous frames on the screen.
Xander's profile has been raised by his performance as CTU District Director George Mason in 24. After being shot by Jack Bauer with a tranquilizer gun in the first episode, his character went on to become one of most interesting.
