Will MellorWill Mellor

He made his name playing loveable rogues in Casualty, Hollyoaks* and Two Pints Of Lager and a Packet Of Crisps, and went on to win the first Comic Relief Does Fame Academy. In 2006 drama Sorted, he goes against type, playing a character who struggles to make an impression on the woman of his dreams.

What's he been in?

  • In 2006's Sorted, Will plays Roger Barmforth. Nicknamed Barmpot, due to his oddball nature, he has an unrequited love for canteen girl Nancy (Nina Sosanya), and an ambition to get into politics.

  • Will's big break came in 1995, when he was part of the original cast of teen soap Hollyoaks*. He played James 'Jambo' Bolton until 1998.
  • In 2001, he joined the cast of Casualty, playing receptionist Jack Vincent. Like many of Will's characters, he was a charming ladies' man. But Jack met an untimely end when he was murdered on his wedding day.

  • Another of Will's jack-the-lad characters has enjoyed better fortune. He's appeared as Gaz Wilkinson in more than 50 episodes of sitcom Two Pints of Lager and a Packet Of Crisps since 2001. His co-stars include Ralf Little and Sheridan Smith.
  • His other drama credits include the second series of Murder Investigation Team, Where The Heart Is and Fat Friends. Before Hollyoaks, he had roles in Brookside and Children's Ward.

  • Will triumphed in the first Comic Relief Does Fame Academy in 2003, beating the likes of Ruby Wax and New Street Law's John Thomson.
  • He impersonated George Michael in a 2005 edition of Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes, singing I Can't Make You Love Me.
  • Will as Jack Vincent in 'Casualty'

  • Will's singing career stretches back to 1998, when his cover of Leo Sayer's When I Need You reached No.5. A second single later that year, got to No.23.
  • He's a Big Brother* fan, and has guested several times on its spin-off show Big Brother's Little Brother. In 2005, he supported his mate, and former Hollyoaks co-star, Jeremy Edwards*, who was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother.
  • Will's also a keen football follower, and supports Manchester United.
