Sarah Lancashire
Sarah shot to stardom as Coronation Street's Raquel Watts, the dippy minx who couldn't leave Curly's heart strings alone. Upon leaving the role in 1996, Sarah went onto star in such dramas as Clocking Off, Rose and Maloney, and more recently the BBC TWO drama The Rotters' Club.

Sarah appeared in the 2005 BBC adaptation of The Rotters' Club, Jonathan Coe's novel set in Birmingham in the 1970s. She played Barbara Chase, an ordinary woman with a very simple life, until she meets eccentric and besotted art teacher, Nigel Plum.

Also in 2005, Sarah stars in Cherished as Angela Cannings, the mother wrongfully convicted of killing two of her babies. She co-stars with Auf Wiedersehen, Pet's Timothy Spall.

Sarah played Gertrude to Hugo Speer's Walter in 2003's Sons and Lovers. Before this, Sarah starred in Birthday Girl, psychological thriller The Cry, and in Rose and Maloney as feisty investigator, Rose Linden.
In 2001, Sarah made Gentlemen's Relish with Billy Connolly. It told the story of a Scottish artist and his housekeeper, Violet, who innocently find themselves mixed up in porn and politics. That same year, Sarah starred with the late John Thaw in The Glass, and with Stephanie Cole in Back Home.

In 2000, Sarah starred in an episode of Paul Abbott's BAFTA award-winning drama, Clocking Off, which followed the lives of a group of factory workers in North West England. Starring with Christopher Eccleston, Sarah played machinist Yvonne Kolakowski, a sexy, bolshy, mother of three. When left high and dry by her husband, Yvonne retaliated by torching their house.

That same year, Sarah performed with renowned comedian John Bird in the BBC's Chambers, a satirical comedy based on three unsuccessful barristers in London.

In 1999, Sarah guested in the Dawn French comedy Murder Most Horrid. The episode, Going Solo, saw Sarah, along with French, set sail on a round-the-world yacht race.
In 1997, Sarah and Clive Mantle played a humorous married couple preparing to have their first baby in the BBC ONE comedy Bloomin' Marvellous.
Sarah's stage credits include Blood Brothers as Linda, The Little Shop Of Horrors as Audrey, and the title role in Educating Rita.

Sarah graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1986.
Stretching her talents even further, Sarah directed an episode of the TV series The Afternoon Play called Viva Las Blackpool, in 2003.
Raquel wasn't actually Sarah's first Coronation Street role! Her first appearance was made in 1987 as Wendy Farmer, a nurse who responded to Jack Duckworth's advert for a lodger at No.9.

Sarah was born in Oldham, Lancashire in 1964, but now lives in London.
She has two sons with first husband, Gary Hargreaves, and one son with Peter Salmon, the TV executive whom she married in 2001.
