Robert Bathurst
A stalwart of hit drama Cold Feet*, Robert ran the country in My Dad's The Prime Minister, and in Coup!, plays a real-life Prime Minister's son, Mark Thatcher. His other credits include The Secret, Joking Apart, Chambers and several radio plays.

Robert's best known for playing stuffy businessman David Marsden in five series of Cold Feet*, between 1997 and 2003. His co-stars included James Nesbitt* and John Thomson.

He plays Mark Thatcher in 2006's Coup! written by satirist John Fortune. It follows the true story of how Simon Mann (Jared Harris*) found himself confined to an African jail, after his involvement with an attempted coup in Equatorial Guinea in 2004.
In the comedy My Dad's The Prime Minister he played No.10 resident, and father of teenager Dylan, Michael Phillips. Written by Ian Hislop, it ran for two series in 2003 and 2004. The programme started out on CBBC but its satrical content saw it become a hit with the whole family.

He played wannabe stand-up comedian Mark Taylor in Joking Apart, from the pen of Steven Moffatt (Coupling, Doctor Who, Press Gang*). The show began as a pilot in 1991, with two series following in 1993 and 1995.
His other credits include The Secret, alongside Haydn Gwynne and Stella Gonet*, Goodbye Mr Steadman, The Safe House, guesting on New Tricks, radio plays such as Emma and Forty Years On, with Alan Bennett*, plus numerous stage roles.

He studied law at Cambridge University where he met the likes of Emma Thompson, Hugh Laurie, and Griff Rhys Jones. While there, he become president of the Cambridge Footlights.
Robert qualified as a barrister, but never set up in practice.

He auditioned for the part of Rimmer in Red Dwarf. When that part went to Chris Barrie*, Robert was cast as Frank Todhunter, who was killed off in the first episode. Coincidentally the same fate befell his character in the first episode of Hornblower.
Robert's a big fan of Green Wing*. But don't expect him to turn up on Celebrity Big Brother* or I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here*. He hates any programme with 'celebrity' in the title.
He describes his worst ever holiday as a visit to Guatemala, where he got salmonella.

Robert was born in Ghana in 1958. After a spell in Ireland, he moved to England at the age of 9.
He has an older brother Nicholas and younger sister Charlotte.

He's been married to artist Victoria Threlfall since 1987. The couple have four daughters, and live in Kent.
