Raza JaffreyRaza Jaffrey

After appearing briefly in series three of Spooks, Raza's character, Zaf comes back in series four as a regular. The dark world of spying is quite a change for Raza who has also been singing and dancing on the West End stage as the star of Bombay Dreams.

What's he been in?

  • Raza's character Zafir arrived at MI5 at the end of series three. He's an old friend of Adam Carter's (Rupert Penry-Jones) and settled in well, quickly becoming the rising star of the department.

  • Raza had a busy career on stage before turning his hand to work on TV. He appeared in productions such as East Is East, Romeo and Juliet and Cyrano de Bergerac and the award winning Fourteen Songs, Two Weddings and a Funeral before making his West End* debut as Sky in Mamma Mia*.

  • Mamma Mia led on to Raza's big break. In 2002 he took the lead role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's* lavish new musical, Bombay Dreams. The book was written by Meera Syal and he won rave reviews for his performance as Akaash. In 2004 he starred as Orsino in a ground-breaking Asian production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Also in the cast was Goodness Gracious Me's Kulvinder Ghir.

  • He took a variety of small roles in TV shows such as EastEnders, Casualty and appeared in the BBC docudrama, Dirty War*. In 2005 Raza worked with Meera Syal again, and won the hearts of thousands of women as the dishy doctor, Krishnan, in Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee.
