Polly WalkerPolly Walker

Turning to acting after being injured as a dancer, Polly Walker has had a successful career. She has taken roles in films such as Enchanted April and Patriot Games, and has also appeared as Mary Archer in Jeffrey Archer: The Truth and as Atia of the Julii in the epic Rome.

What's she been in?

  • In 2005 Polly took the role of Atia of the Julii, the niece of Caesar (Ciaran Hinds) and the lover of Mark Anthony (James Purefoy) in the epic drama, Rome.

  • Polly's first TV role was as romantic heroine Lorna Doone in a 1990 adaptation. Her co-stars were also destined for great things. They included Sean Bean (TV's Sharpe), as Carver Doone and Clive Owen as John Ridd.

  • Polly commanded attention in 1992 Harrison Ford blockbuster Patriot Games, playing ruthless terrorist Annette.

  • Polly starred as Jane Fairfax in 1996 film Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow as the title character. Polly took on an action role in D-Tox in 2002. A thriller starring Sylvester Stallone.

  • Polly played Mary Archer in Jeffrey Archer: The Truth opposite Damian Lewis. She was also seen as the wife of another ambitious MP in State of Play a new conspiracy thriller set against the background of Whitehall and Fleet Street, also starring John Simm, David Morrissey and Kelly MacDonald.

  • Polly has appeared with actress Jodhi May on no less than three occasions, in 1998's The Woodlanders, 2001's The Mayor of Casterbridge and 1997's The Gambler.

  • Polly has made many well reviewed and respected stage performances, including the part of a woman married to a gay husband in Finding the Sun at the National Theatre in 2001.
