Nicola WalkerNicola Walker

Nicola stars as Ruth Evershed in MI5 drama Spooks. After taking a small part in the smash hit film Four Weddings and a Funeral, her roles on TV have spanned a wide range of roles from a cow in Cows to a serial killer in Dalziel and Pascoe.

What's she been in?

  • Nicola has been in Spooks since series 2. She plays the eccentric intelligence analyst, Ruth Evershed, who arrived at MI5 after a transfer from GCHQ.

  • One of Nicola's first roles was in the hit film Four Weddings and a Funeral*. She played a folk singer at one of the weddings, singing an appalling version of the Barry Manilow classic, Can't Smile Without You.

  • Nicola has worked extensively in the theatre. She's appeared in many productions at the National Theatre, including Tales From The Vienna Woods, Free and Edmond with Kenneth Branagh*. She also appeared alongside Cherie Lunghi at the prestigous Donmar Warehouse* in Passion Play, and alongside Kate Beckinsale* and Diane Parish in Sweetheart at the Royal Court*.

  • Nicola's appeared in a wide variety of comedy programmes on TV. From playing a cow in Eddie Izzard*'s sitcom pilot Cows* to starring in an edition of the Chris Langham* mockumentary series, People Like Us. She also played Suzy Travis in two series of the BBC sitcom Chalk.

  • It's not all been comedy for Nicola. On the darker side she starred in Touching Evil* alongside Robson Green. She played DI Susan Abbot in three series of the popular crime drama. On the other side of the law, she has been a serial killer in an episode of Dalziel and Pascoe. She also starred in The Last Train*, a sci-fi drama in which she played a scientist who place an entire trainload of commuters in suspended animation so they could survive a meteor crashing into the Earth. When they woke up they found they were the only survivors and had to fight for their lives.
  • Recently Nicola has made a few appearances on the big screen. She played another police officer in Shiner*, starring Michael Caine and even had a role in the latest Thunderbirds film.
