Leslie's big break came in 1979 when she starred as temptress Steph in the classic teenage angst Mod movie Quadrophenia alongside Phil Daniels, Sting and Ray Winstone.
Leslie took an all-action role in 1985 drama series C.A.T.S. Eyes as computer genius Frederica "Fred" Smith. The C.A.T.S. in question were in fact a clever acroymn for a fictional Home Office security operation called "Covert Activities
Thames Section".
In 1992 she became one of the women trying to bring cushions and sensible conversation into the lives of the Men Behaving Badly. As the beautiful upstairs neighbour Deb, she spent years fending off the advances of Tony (Neil Morrissey) before finally submitting to being his long-suffering girlfriend.

In 2000, Leslie settled down in the fictional Yorkshire town of Skelthwaite, joining the cast of popular drama Where the Heart Is. As District Nurse Karen Buckley she dealt with challenging personal and medical emergencies, and was married to Philip Middlemiss (formerly Coronation Street's Des).
Leslie joined the cast of Merseybeat as Inspector Charlie Eden, from episode 6 of series 3. On her arrival, Leslie said of Charlie, "she's bound to upset a few of the Newton Park officers as she has no problem in speaking her mind and definitely knows where her loyalties lie."
