Jonathan spent three years tending to the injured as Staff Nurse Sam Colloby in Casualty. Later, he took on the more assertive role of PC Steve Traynor in Merseybeat, before his character was killed off at the end of the third series.
Jonathan had an early role in 1995 as Mick in Newcastle-based children's series Byker Grove, which also nurtured the precocious talents of Ant & Dec and Donna Air.
In 1996 Jonathan joined the cast of Casualty for an eventful stint as gay Staff Nurse Sam Colloby.
Jonathan has also appeared in Catherine Cookson adaptation A Dinner of Herbs, customs drama The Knock and romantic drama Reach for the Moon.
Jonathan starred in three series of crime drama Merseybeat, as PC Steve Traynor. His character was already renowned for playing with fire following a tragedy in his past. And it was a fire that caused his character's death.

Jonathan was born in Lincolnshire on the 14th October 1977.
