Joanne Whalley
Joanne will always be remembered for her role as Nurse Mills in The Singing Detective. She went on to work in feature films such as Scandal, Willow and Navy Seals. More recent roles include Tess in Child of Mine and Queen Mary in The Virgin Queen.

Joanne's career began in the 1970s, when as a child actress she took small roles in soap operas including Coronation Street* and Emmerdale*.
As an adult she made her name with two high-profile roles on television. The first of these was Emma Craven in Edge of Darkness, a thriller set in the British nuclear industry. Then she landed the role of Nurse Mills in the Dennis Potter drama The Singing Detective*, the drama starred Michael Gambon as a detective confined to hospital.

Joanne then headed over to Hollywood, and took a lead role in the fantasy drama Willow*. She played Sorsha alongside Val Kilmer* as Madmartigan and Warwick Davies as Willow himself.
She continued working in films, with roles such as Christine Keeler in Scandal*, Katherine in The Secret Rapture*, Claire in Navy Seals with Charlie Sheen*, and Lori in The Man Who Knew Too Little* with Bill Murray*.

High-profile roles in TV dramas included playing Scarlett O'Hara in Scarlett* a sequel to Gone with the Wind. She played the lead role of Scarlett O'Hara. She also took the title role in a biography of one of America's most famous women Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis*.
In 2005 she made a return to British television, playing the lead role of Tess Palmer in the thriller Child of Mine*, and in 2006 she plays Queen Mary in a new adaptation of the life of Queen Elizabeth I, The Virgin Queen.
