Emilia's first role was in 1995 in the phenomenally successful BBC classic drama Pride and Prejudice, where she played Darcy's younger sister Georgina.

She went on to play Mrs de Winter in the television adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca, a role her own mother, actress Joanna David, (most recently seen in He Knew He Was Right) had played in the 1979 version.
Dramas including Bright Hair, a murder mystery, and Blink, a short written and directed by This Life's creator Amy Jenkins, both co-starring James Purefoy, followed.

1999 proved to be a busy and high-profile year for Emilia. Roles in Stephen Poliakoff's Shooting the Past, The Scarlet Pimpernell with Richard E Grant, Bad Blood opposite Lia Williams and Steven Mackintosh, and David Copperfield with an all-star cast including Pauline Quirke, Maggie Smith, Daniel Radcliffe, Trevor Eve, Alun Armstrong.
2000 was no less successful, with roles in the Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's modern take on classic Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and Other People's Children with Lesley Manville and Denis Lawson.

Emilia's career went stellar in 2002 with the Roman Polanski's World War II film The Pianist, a heartbreaking tale of survival in the Holocaust, in which she played Dorota. Polanski went on to win the Oscar for Best Director, lead actor Adrien Brody won for Best Actor and the film won the prestigious Palme d'Or at that year's Cannes Film Festival. In 2002 she also starred in Hideous Man, written, directed and starring John Malkovich.
Recent years have seen success patricularly in historical dramas. Roles in Helen of Troy, Henry VIII, and Gunpowder, Treason and Plot have ensured public awareness.
Upcoming releases include the film Elizabeth Rex, with Michael Gambon and Bob Hoskins. Emilia did film scenes for The Life and Death of Peter Sellers with Geoffrey Rush (as Peter) and Charlize Theron (as Britt Ekland), but unfortunately they do not feature in the final cut.
