Help playing audio/video Adam Dunn and Gavin Topley from Branksome, near Bournemouth, have planned a nearly naked charity bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats. Taking no cash, food or clothes, apart from their pants, Gavin and Adam will set off with only the bare essentials - if you'll excuse the pun. The only items they are taking with them are water, ID, phones, a camera and a map. They are hoping for offers of free accommodation, food and clothing along the way. ![]() Gavin and Adam want to raise £3,000 Gavin, who has done charity work before for ActionAid, says: "At the moment there's an economic downturn, so everybody's struggling for cash. "In the developing countries that's even worse. "The price of the food doubles [in some countries] and people can't just change their supermarket from Tesco to Lidl. "We can only imagine what it must be like to live in the extreme conditions that people face every day around the world and we wanted to incorporate a little bit of that into the challenge. "We thought about the Land's End to John O'Groats route and as people have already done that we decided to give the bike ride a poverty theme, and that's why we ended up in our pants." The routeThe pair's route covers a total of 1,066 miles and will take in many areas of the UK, including Exeter, Chester, Carlisle and Loch Ness. They will be riding an average of seventy miles a day over 14 days. Adam says: "We've literally got every single left and right hand turn mapped out." Adam and Gavin have even managed to secure some shelter and a few home cooked dinners on their adventure. Gavin says: "We're lucky - we've got the first four stops sorted. "A hotel in Carlisle has also volunteered for us to have a room each there for free. "In addition to that someone who saw what we're doing online has actually booked us a hotel in Loch Ness. "Other than that we're still at the mercy of the British public." Adam says: "This is where the clothes donations come in, because obvious we don't want to be turning [our pants] inside out after a week!" ![]() Gavin and Adam are hoping their cycle will raise £3,000 for their chosen charity, ActionAid. Gavin says: "If we do that we're going to get a tattoo in relation to the campaign we're working on for the charity." And that's not all the men have been threatened with, Gavin is also worried about saddle sore. He says: "I'm dreading the day when we've got to go into a chemist and blag some Sudocrem [antiseptic cream usually used for nappy rash]." Adam and Gavin will begin their trip on Saturday 4 July from Land's End. They hope to arrive in John O'Groats on Saturday 18 July.
