The Sables in the South:Live studio

The Sables in the South:Live studio

The Sables

Listen to an interview with the on-the-rise Bournemouth band, taken from BBC Radio Solent's South:Live programme.

The Sables now call Bournemouth home but the indie rock band have had a reasonably long journey to get there - having first started off in Brighton.

Appearing on the BBC South:Live programme on BBC Radio Solent, they told presenter Phil Jackson that they're now fully settled in the town and reckon it's a place with a lively music scene where there's a lot going on.

After band member Chris happened to take up lodgings with the man behind Bournemouth and Poole live music and gigs website BH1, it led to the band making their first recordings.

Chris says: "Tony [who runs the BH1 website] started to take notice of the music I was playing in my room and he liked it, and he helped fund us to make our dream a reality [releasing an album].

"We didn't just want to exist in the 'ether' [as downloads] - we wanted a physical release."

That became the album South Southern Angel, and you can hear Chris and Martin from the band talk about the album in the interview, by clicking on the link below.

More information on the band, and some of their tracks, can be found on their Myspace.
