EastEnders' Roxy & Sean in Weymouth
EastEnders in Weymouth
Walford's finest make the journey from the Square to one of Dorset's most famous seaside towns. After shooting the scenes in April, the two episodes were shown in July.
Cast members including Barbara Windsor and Samantha Janus appear in scenes shot in Weymouth in episodes of EastEnders shown in July.
BBC Radio Solent's Jon Cuthill spoke to Weymouth & Portland's Borough Council's Communications Manager Jacqui Gisborne about the episodes, which attracted a lot of attention when they were filmed.
She says: "We had to dress the Esplanade with specific flowers and posters because they were filming in April but it was screening in July."
"The weather at the time was stunning - true traditional Weymouth summer weather, but not the weather we're experiencing now [rain]!"
Jacqui says that interest in Weymouth as a holiday resort is likely to increase after the episodes go out. She says: "We've had lots of filming here this year, and people love to go to places where their favourite programmes have been filmed."
"The effect of that is known as 'Film Tourism' - all in it's generated about £1.7 million into the local economy, straight in, in cash."
It's not the first time EastEnders had shot scenes in Dorset. In September 2006, members of the Wicks family turned up in Worth Matravers near Swanage, on 'a family break in the country'.
Dorset is frequently used as a location for film and TV shoots.
