Steve Harris

Meet Steve Harris, BBC Radio Solent's drivetime presenter with all the essential information to end your working day.

Steve is with you every weekday evening on BBC Radio Solent between 4pm and 7pm, bringing you the latest news, sport, travel and weather for the South.

Steve is originally from South Wales, and he's also half-Italian but somehow a four year spell working on Teesside has left him a fan of Middlesbrough football club!

He first got into radio when he found himself at university studying for a Masters degree in Maths.

He realised that a career of talking in between records and occasionally meeting famous people beat the hell out of becoming a maths teacher or a bank manager (the only two career paths open to people with maths degrees apparently!).

He's a big fan of all sorts of music, a keen gig and festival goer, and a bit of a runner - feel free to ask him about the one marathon he's finished and the other one he didn't quite finish!

Incidentally, Steve also once held a World Record for the longest radio show ever (he's in the Stop Press section of the 2000 Guinness Book of Records!)

Steve Harris - Monday to Friday 4 - 7pm
