Kiwi art in Christchurch

Christchurch is celebrating 30 years of twinning with its namesake city in New Zealand with a special art exhibition featuring work from artists on both sides of the globe.

Christchurch in Dorset has been twinned with the city of the same name on New Zealand's South Island for three decades and to celebrate the local Christchurch and District Arts group (CADArts) is staging a series of events and exhibitions.

Christchurch Priory is hosting 'Celebration Christchurch NZ UK' featuring work from New Zealand and Dorset artists and photographers.  There will be textile hangings from Priory School and Photography from Twynham School on show.

To make it a 'joint exhibition', the City of Christchurch in New Zealand is sending over 20 prestigious works from three established and three emerging artists.

There will also be pictures on display, taken by the newly formed Christchurch Guild of Photographers.

As well as the exhibitions, there will also be a celebration concert with drama, dance and music at Highcliffe Castle on 10th April at 7.30pm and a Celebration Service at Christchurch Priory earlier the same day at 9.45am.
