The Doctor Trap

Review: Captivating, or not?

Back To News List

AJ, Reece, Isabelle, Molly and Jake from Year 6, St Clement & St James School give their thoughts on Simon Messingham's new novel. Beware some plot spoilers!

What is the story about?

Sebastian is a collector of endangered species, and wants the last of the Time Lords for his collection. He enlists the help of other hunters to aid him in his quest.

Apart from The Doctor and Donna, what were the main characters like?

Sebastian looks perfect from the outside, but he is a dark abyss on the inside: mean and very cruel. I don't think we'd like to meet him in a hurry!

What did you particularly enjoy/dislike about the book.

Nothing to dislike really!

What were the best bits?

Favourite parts include Baris, The Doctor's number one fan, talking about having cosmetic surgery to look like The Doctor and having a second heart installed; The Doctor's sarcastic attitude when talking about finding Donna and The TARDIS; finding the alien in the Arctic and Silmus getting disintegrated!

What did you think of the story as a whole?

It is a spine-chilling, nail-biting page turner. Everyone would enjoy this book (though maybe not the younger ones)!

About the book in general...

All of the group enjoyed the book and thought that the artwork on the cover was "wicked"!
