Russell T Davies has been presented with his OBE for services to drama.
Doctor Who's lead writer received the Order of the British Empire from the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace on Friday.
Davies told BBC News that he was proud to be recognised for his writing.
"Writers are the lifeblood of a lot of stuff that gets made," said Russell after the ceremony. "So I was really honoured to accept it on behalf of everyone slaving away at keyboards."
