Actor Profile: Kylie Minogue
Born on the 28th May 1968 Melbourne, Australia, Kylie was daughter to a proud Irish accountant and ecstatic Welsh dancer. She wasn't to be the only Minogue; she was the oldest of three, sister Dannii, now with her own career in performance, and brother Brendon, whom has become a cameraman on Australian TV, soon joined her.
Kylie's performance career started at a very young age. By the time she was 12 she had already had her first professional role in an Australian soap opera. After a few different soap operas in the early 80's, she left school and landed one of her most unforgettable roles as Charlene in Neighbours.
During her acting role on Neighbours her singing talents were discovered by producers Stock, Aitken, Waterman, who launched her singing career. Thus began a very successful career in the music business, which has continued to this day with the recent launch of her 10th studio album, X.
Kylie's musical success didn't mean she ever stopped acting, however. She has has starred or featured in such films as The Delinquents, Street Fighter and Bio-Dome, Moulin Rouge as well as voicing the leading role in the animated film The Magic Roundabout.
During 2005 Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer, which interrupted her highly successful and demanding Showgirl tour. 18 months later, after surgery and chemotherapy, she returned with a clean bill of health to finish that tour and continue her career.
As well as her music and acting careers, Kylie also has her own clothes line, perfume and children's book.
