Kylie Minogue OBE

Kylie Minogue OBE

Kylie honoured by the Queen.

A few days after starring in the Doctor Who Christmas Special Voyage of the Damned, in which the Doctor saves Buckingham Palace from destruction. Kylie has been honoured with an OBE by the Queen in the New Years Honours list.

Kylie commented "I feel deeply touched to be acknowledged by the UK, my adopted home, in this way. This last year I have felt so much love and support from everyone as I took greater steps back into the public domain, and it is with absolute gratitude and joy that I say farewell to 2007 and look forward to what the new year will bring."

The OBE – Officer of the Order of the British Empire is one of the highest civilian honours and was awarded to Kylie for her services to music. Although an Australian national, Kylie is entitled to a full award, as Australia is one of the Commonwealth Realms of which the Queen is Head of State.
