Wetworld

Wetworld

Review: World-trekking adventure or wet blanket?

In the latest of our Doctor Who novel reviews, we asked the pupils of Darrick Wood School in Orpington for their views on Wetworld, by Mike Michalowski.

Here's what Samantha, Jessica, Samantha, Paul, Graeme, Sean, Paul, Steve and Theo had to say.

What is the story about? (Spoilers)

Jessica: At the beginning of the book The Doctor is fixing the TARDIS.
Steve: Martha and the Doctor crash land on the planet Sunday. They get separated at the end of the first chapter.
Graeme: the TARDIS goes underwater with Martha inside it.
Sean: Then the Doctor meets this girl who takes him to the zoo lab.
Graeme: Meanwhile, Martha has been ripped out of the TARDIS and is very near to being murdered.
Samantha: Many people get injured because of this creature...

What were the characters like?

Samantha: I liked the character of Candy because she was a bit touchy, but had a lot of confidence.
Theo: I liked the mystery swamp creature.
Paul: Dangerous Otters and various other things that I can't say.
Samantha: I also liked the way the author described in detail the personality of each character, so you could really understand them.

What did you particularly enjoy/like about Wetworld?

Paul: The description in the TARDIS and of the planet itself is excellent.
Steve: Every chapter asked more questions - just when you got the answers it seemed that a dozen more questions were asked.
Samantha: The detail in the book was amazing and I had pictures going round in my head for days.
Paul: The enthusiastic wording of the whole adventure; it makes the book not just a good read, but a pleasurable one.
Samantha: I enjoyed the tension of this book.

Is there anything about the story that you didn't like?

Graeme: There is some complicated material in the book, but everything is explained.
Theo: The storyline was quite complex, but was very thrilling!

What did you think of the story as a whole?

Paul: A superb book.
Graeme: Once I started reading, I couldn't stop.
Paul: I have to buy it to read it again.
Theo: Wetworld was brilliant, I really enjoyed it!
Steve: This is definitely a sell out.
Sean: It is an exciting book which you cannot stop reading.
Samantha: I couldn't put it down.

Marks out of 10?

The group gave Wetworld a splash-tastic 10/10.
