2005 series nominated for TV's top honour.
The 2005 series of Doctor Who, starring Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper, has been nominated for Best Drama Series in British Television's most prestigious awards, the BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts).
Doctor Who faces stiff competition from three other critically acclaimed programmes - BBC Two's graphic medical drama Bodies, Channel 4's outrageous comedy-drama Shameless, and BBC One's slick spy show Spooks.
Doctor Who is also nominated in one other category, the Pioneer Audience Award for Best Programme of 2005. The other nominees for this award (which is decided by public vote) are: The Apprentice, Bleak House, The Catherine Tate Show, Desperate Housewives, Jamie's School Dinners, Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor.
The awards will be presented on Sunday 7 May - we'll all be keeping our fingers crossed!
