Series sold to largest TV market in Europe
Doctor Who is to get its first screening in Germany following a deal with commercial broadcaster ProSieben. The company has purchased both series of the show and will begin screening it next year.
Isabelle Helle, Head of Germany, BBC Worldwide, said: "The series has gained iconic status outside of the UK and has already been licensed to broadcasters in sixteen countries worldwide. "
Meanwhile, Thomas Schultheis, Head of Programming at ProSieben has been just as generous with his praise. "Doctor Who is one of the most clever and entertaining series to come from Great Britain."
The series is already shown in a number of countries, including Canada, South Korea and Hungary.
